Hatch 3 RT 1200

Just a moment of distraction can turn an open roof access hatch into a hazard. It’s why OSHA requires roof access points to be protected by a standard railing and gate. KeeHatch® guardrail and roof hatch door protect your roof access points by surrounding the opening, mitigating the risk.

It might not seem it, but transitioning from a ladder through a roof hatch can be a hazardous process. KeeHatch® mitigates the risk of fall hazards by making the transition safer with a roof hatch railing and self-closing gate that also serves as a grab bar for entering and exiting.

KeeHatch® requires no special tools or training to install it and you’ll receive step-by-step instructions too. The modular design makes it easy to make any adjustments on site, whilst the system easily integrates with existing openings and ladderways.

Meeting and exceeding OSHA requirements, KeeHatch® railing protects roof hatches with guardrail and a self-closing gate.

With multiple sizes available, KeeHatch® integrates with all new or existing roof access hatches.

The roof hatch railing protects the opening and becomes a grab rail for climbers, ensuring safer transitions.

The mounting brackets bolt directly to the hatch frame, saving your roof membrane from any damage.

    • How does the railing mount to the Hatch?
The patented Kee Hatch brackets are designed to bolt to the drip-edge of the roof hatch. In most applications the Kee Hatch mounting bolts do not need to penetrate the curb of the hatch itself.
    • Why does the railing only cover 3 sides of the hatch?
Kee Hatch is designed to protect all exposed sides of the opening to protect a user from falling in. When in the open position, the lid of the hatch meets the requirements for a leading edge barrier and does not require a guardrail.
    • If I have a “ladder up” bar do I still need a hatch railing?
Simply put – yes. A ladder-up bar will not prevent a user from falling into the opening. In fact, we recommend removing ladder-up bars after installing KeeHatch as it they are difficult to safely operate while maintain 3-points of contact on the ladder. If ingress or egress is your concern we recommend requesting offset handles on your hatch to provide hand-holds for users climbing in and out of the hatch.
    • If I close the lid to my hatch do I still need to protect it with railing?
When a hatch lid is closed, the lid is covering the hole and thus eliminates the hazard completely. However, in our decades of experience we find that most users do not close the lid while they are working on the roof for fear of getting locked on the roof. Even if you close the lid every time, it doesn’t mean that everyone accessing the roof does. Therefore, we recommend protecting all roof hatches using Kee Hatch railing.
